The Victorian period began when Queen Victoria was crowned queen in 1837. This is around the same time the romantic period was said to end. And when Victoria had died in 1901, that had marked the New Century. What most people commonly think of when they think Victorian people is stale, congested, and conservative. They are not completely accurate, very common things that came out of this time period were seances. And what a seance is, is basically communication with the dead through the presence of a medium. The earliest books came about in the early 1790s in England. It also became very famous in different parts of the world. The most popular sequence of seances were taken place in the white house by Mary T. Lincoln in the attempt to contact her lost son.
