Chapter 7

I...killed her. I had no idea who she was. Her still body laid there peaceful as ever. I always had my fair share of assumptions. Tom had always gone to this garage. But I thought it was for purchasing a car. Him and nick had gone there and spent the night in New York. I don't feel as though I killed a person. My guilt is slowly fading away. I know that jay is willing to to full blame. But that's not the reason. To many mixed emotions spinning around my head. Jay knows i have a daughter. For that he might be more willing to take it upon himself. I will tell Tom what happened and then soon after ill blame him for my blunder. Not only does he not love me, he has no respect for me. That only jay has. So the deed is done is shall put Tom's name into the mix. But that leaves Nick and Jordan. They were with Tom and they will testify. I must pay them off. I'm well of and can afford it. I look over at Jay while the city lights flash by. For this gentleman will be my savior. If and only if he has the same outlook as I.

Gatsby was born James Gatz and was born poor. While he was 17 he used to work on lake superior as a fisherman for salmon and he used to dig clams. He one day sees a man named Dan Cody and rowed to him in the middle of a storm. After that he takes him on board and makes him his assistant and gives him the name Jay Gatsby. Cody was an alcoholic who soon after dies and leaves Jay with 25 thousand dollars. But Gatsby had not inherited the money due to Cody's wife not allowing it. He then pursues a life of being a successful businessman. He actually came from a simple life and didn't have it easy. Like the rumors stating he had gone to Oxford. He didn't have the money to even go to England. Jay Gatsby and James Gatz have a small difference between them. One had a luxurious life and the other had nothing. A reason Tom also hates Gatsby is because of how he makes his money. His money is new money and he thinks that the money he makes comes from bootlegging. But he just owns a lot of Pharmacy's. And also they both love the same women.

Gatsby Chapter 1

My reaction to chapter 1 is that this book heavily relies on the rich to outweigh the poor. Such as when nick moves into his home which in in a fairly rich community but is smaller then his neighbor and counterpart Gatsby. There was a bit of a cliff hanger that I was curious about. Who is the girl that Tom has in New York. And why would she call during dinner time knowing that his whole family would be home. Also most people of this time are drunk and its a casual thing to drink throughout the whole day. Another thing that might be seen coming up in the future of this novel is Tom and Daisy being separated due to the fact that they cant stand each other. And also Tom abuses his wife which at this time made sense because of alcohol being a common thing in the household of the wealthy. Regardless of the fact that it was banned at this time.

A hero is a person who necessarily isn't a muscular man. But in reality is a person with a clean heart and simple and pure who does things out of love and good.
